Types of Waste

Review the “Types of Waste” chart in the Module 7 presentations. (attached) Using the categories on the “Types of Waste” chart as a model (in Part 2: Value Stream Mapping and Forms of Waste), create a chart in which you identify and rank-order based on impact the different kinds of waste in your organization or an organization of your choice. For example, an item ranked as the Number 1 waste would have the greatest impact on the organization. Once ranked, determine an appropriate course of action to minimize or eliminate each waste. In a 2-3-page paper (not including the title and references pages), introduce your chart by explaining how you determined the areas of waste, your ranking criteria, and how the areas ranked. Then include the chart. After the chart, conclude your paper with a written explanation of the courses of action to minimize or eliminate each waste.
