Additional notes:
You can use pictures, graphs, pie charts, etc. in your answers, but not for your answers.
Always support your opinions with scholastic sources.
When you use outside material, please use in-text citations and give references at the end of your post in APA format. Otherwise, it is termed as Plagiarism.
Plagiarism is a critical offense according to Galen policies. Your answers should not be simple 'copy and paste' from an outside source. In such instances, even though you give references, they will not be considered your answers. The first time I spot plagiarism, you will be given a zero with a warning. The 2nd time will be a write-up. Please be careful about plagiarism.

Socrates said, "The unexamined life is not worth living." The real value of an education, then, is to enhance our skill at self-examination. Do you agree with Socrates? Support your view with at least two examples, explaining your rationale. (CSLO 2, USLO 8.3)
I personally feel that this quote pertains more to informal education rather than formal education. In my opinion, you learn to examine yourself through life experiences/trials and tribulations. For example, when I make a mistake or a life decision with a negative outcome, I like to try to figure out why I chose the way I did and what I may have been able to do differently. Formal education doesn't teach this in my opinion the way life experience does. Another example in my life would be raising my children, I feel that I examine the things I do and how they affect them which to me is also learned through informal education rather than formal education. In other words, to me, trial and error train us to self-examine.

Discuss the importance of informal education on formal education. Pick an example from the US to showcase your analysis. Can the educational system exist outside the influence of informal learning? Explain your rationale.
Informal education is cultural and society education that is learned outside of the classroom setting. It is not textbooks and lectures but how to dress for certain occasions, manners, morals and how to live a successful life. Informal and formal education cannot be separated permanently because when kids and adults gather for formal education, informal education is also being taught. Kids teach other kids things and norms just as much as adults teach them outside of school. Home life and the adults in your life often teach the basics, how to cook and clean and be financially responsible while peers teach fashion, help with education and vocational goals. They cannot function apart. There was a time where informal education was the only education often provided, especially to the impoverished people, but since the rise in education availability and standardization that has changed. In short. Informal education can exist without formal education, but not visa versa.
