Professional Development Guidelines There are two parts to this assessment. In part a) Please provide a short essay (1000 words) on the following question using academic sources to support your views: “Building self-awareness through helping people understand the relation between what they feel, think, and act, and their impact on others, is a crucial step to greater personal and professional competence.” (Rizomancy 2004) Discuss with relation to yourself and your own development. For part b) You will be required to complete the following self-assessments to aid you in developing self insight – a STEM analysis document, a further Skills exercise, a Values exercise and the Mindset activities from Seminar 2 (all to be included in the Appendices) Following this you will analyse (using a SWOT analysis or the GROW Model) the implications of this for your own personal development and produce a vision and a personal brand statement and a personalized SMART action plan for your three short-term development goals for the duration of the course.  These goals should tackle key development needs that you identify through the workshop activities and through your self-insights. You will refer to academic theory and practical literature to help you and to support your analysis and views. But as this is a largely reflective piece it can be written in the first person.
