Processing and Sentencing of Female Offenders

This chapter begins by discussing the impact of gender on crime. Also, the chapter explains the difference
between chivalry and the evil woman hypothesis. More importantly, this chapter examines how female
offenders are treated when processed in the criminal justice system. The chapter concludes by identifying the
roles patriarchy, chivalry, and paternalism can play in the treatment of offenders.
