Process of certification and accreditation

How would you describe the process of certification and accreditation? Who do you think would be the actors (or people involved) for the information systems audit? Explain your thoughts regarding the process of accreditation. Is it a formality, or will it guarantee that PVSS will correct the remediation finding?
