The aim is to capture any thing related to the course material that you encounter as you are taking this course. You may include: personal observations about representations, how course concepts re or talked about (in the media, in your family, at your workplace, etc.), or you may also choose to write about memories, reactions, thoughts/emotions, conversations, experiences watching the news cycle, films, Instagram, etc.
What are common themes in your journal entries/responses/observations? What do you find out throughout the course?
What did you notice about discourses about women's sexuality and bodies? Representations in the media? What do you notice about different media contexts?
What is included in the discourse? What is excluded? What effects do you think it has?
According to the authors that you read in this class, what might they say about your observations and reflections? In other words, try to apply the concepts and theoretical ideas from the readings to your own written observations. You should present a balance between the course materials (cite readings frequently/apply the readings and theories to your own field note entries) and your own analysis.
