IDENTIFY THE ISSUES IN THE CASE STUDY

Select one of the case studies in the textbook, or a topic of your choosing. Review the case and identify the ethical issues you want to research. Identify two-four questions that you will examine to support your decisions and recommendations regarding the ethical issues of the case study topic. Remember your research is not just about the case study, it is more about the underlying ethical issues that the case study presents, how these issues should be dealt with, and the implications of the issues. (Research paper examples are on Canvas) Consider the following as you begin to do your research: 1. Identify the most important facts 2. Identify key issue(s) 3. Identify the stakeholders 4. Identify the decision makers 5. What are people saying about the issue (consult social media – twitter, Instagram, Facebook) 6. Evaluate impact and course of action. 7. Do you agree/disagree with course of action? 8. What would you do? 9. Include your references The document should include: Read the case and highlight the main points and any issues that you can identify. • Decide the questions that you want to research. • Read the case again, linking the information that is relevant to each question you have decided to research. STEP 2: IDENTIFY THE ISSUES IN THE CASE STUDY The case study you have selected will describe a situation which may arise in a particular profession or social context. They often involve a number of people in a complex situation. They will often describe a situation which is problematic, in how it is dealt with, or in its complexity. Analyze the situation and identify the issues/actions described in the case which may be problematic. The following questions may help you to do this: • What actions were taken in the case? • Were these actions the most appropriate and why? • Were there any consequences of the actions taken? • Was anything omitted or not considered? • Were actions/procedures in line with existing codes of practice, policy, or theories? Find two or three other related articles related to the case study to see how the issues were managed. STEP 3: LINK PHILOSOPHICAL THEORY TO THE ISSUES Use your knowledge of existing codes of practice, theories and/or other professional documents and behaviors to decide what was done appropriately and what was not.
