Heterogeneity

Heterogeneity is the distinctness between apparently similar resources – the traits they possess that allow us to distinguish them from one another in terms of their exact physical and chemical properties. How can an abundant item also be scarce based on the concept of heterogeneity? Explain why and give an example.
